Hello! My name is Dave Hilton and I welcome you to the NEW Debt Black Hole website.  My goal is to use this site to share my personal financial failures, successes and ideas to help other Geeks get (and stay) out of debt.  It's tough to admit when you're wrong or that you have a problem with debt or your finances.  In a lot of instances, by the time you see the danger...it's too late.  There are so many times I wish I had some type of financial "Spidey-Sense" to warn me before I made these mistakes.

As a HUGE Sci-Fi and Comic Book Geek, I tend to use examples from my favorite Sci-Fi TV Shows (Stargate, Star Trek, Quantum Leap, Eureka, etc.) and Movies (Star Wars, Spiderman, Superman, Batman, etc.) when describing events and situations in my life.  For some people this seems a little odd.  But, thankfully, I know enough other Geeks to realize I am NOT alone!

My interest in Science and Personal Finance also creates a unique dichotomy in how I relate to the world.  I've found very interesting similarities between naturally occurring phenomena (e.g. Black Holes) and man-made systems (e.g. Money & Debt).  It should not be too surprising we, sometimes unintentionally, mimic the patterns of the universe.  It is also possible the connections I've made are merely an attempt to create order in a very chaotic system.  Either way, if you're a Geek too, I'm sure you'll appreciate my unique perspective on how you can look at how a Black Hole acts and see our financial system at work.

Although I have written the book- "Escape The Debt Black Hole (A Geek's Guide To Personal Finance)", it is NOT my goal to shove the book or audiobook down your throat every chance I get.  If what you read on this site interests you enough, you'll probably buy or download a copy of it at some point.  I'll even give away a few copies FREE periodically once it's published.  I started this project to help my fellow Geeks avoid the same financial nightmares I put my family through.
